The short answer

XTablo connects to Slack: 1 project = 1 Slack channel. Messages from the project discussion arrive in the channel, and replies written in Slack go back into XTablo, on the client side. You turn it on with the “Add to Slack” button in Settings. It’s available today, from the Agency plan up.

What is Slack for in an agency workflow with XTablo?

Your team lives in Slack, your client doesn’t, and you don’t want to invite them into your workspace. XTablo bridges the gap: the client writes in the discussion of their portal, your team reads and replies from Slack.

The result: no new tool for your team to open, and a per-client history that stays in the project. No more client messages lost in an inbox nobody checks.

How do you connect Slack to XTablo, step by step?

In XTablo, open Settings and click “Add to Slack.” Slack asks you to authorize the connection for your workspace: accept.

Then, for each project, a Slack channel matches the project. From there, messages from the project discussion appear in that channel, and what your team writes back returns to XTablo.

You set this up once per workspace. It’s available from the Agency plan (€79/month, about $89).

A good habit: test before you invite your client. Write a message in the discussion of a demo project, check that it reaches the right channel, reply from Slack, then confirm the reply shows on the client side. That way you know exactly what your client will see the day they write for real.

What does your client see in their portal?

They don’t see Slack. They open their link, with no account to create, in a portal with your logo, and write in the project discussion. They see your team’s reply as if it came straight from XTablo.

They also find progress, their files and deliverables to approve. You choose what’s visible project by project: your internal Slack channel stays internal. See the client portal.

Which agencies get the most out of the Slack integration?

It fits teams already working in Slack: web design agencies, design agencies and content agencies of 2 to 7 people, where several members answer the same client.

What are the limits?

  • Agency plan and up: Slack isn’t included in the Freelance plan.
  • One channel per project: the model is simple, but it creates as many channels as you have projects.
  • The client isn’t in Slack: they write in XTablo, not in your workspace.
  • This is not an official app: XTablo is compatible with Slack and uses Slack’s public API.

How to get started

  1. 1Open XTablo’s Settings.
  2. 2Click “Add to Slack” and authorize the connection for your workspace.
  3. 3Pick or find the Slack channel linked to the project.
  4. 4Invite your client to their XTablo portal.
  5. 5Write a test message in the project discussion and check that it arrives in Slack.
  6. 6Reply from Slack and check that the reply appears on the client side.

FAQ

Is this an official Slack app?

No. XTablo is compatible with Slack and connects to its public API through the “Add to Slack” button. It is not a partnership.

Does my client need to be in Slack?

No. They write in the discussion of their XTablo portal. They need neither Slack nor an account.

How much does it cost?

Slack is available from the Agency plan: €79/month (about $89, 3 users), or €199/month (about $224) for Business (7 users). Excl. taxes, no commitment, 7-day trial (card required). Clients are free. See pricing.

Do Slack replies reach the client?

Yes. Replies written in the project channel come back into the XTablo discussion.

Can I mix Slack and the XTablo discussion?

Yes, that’s the point: your team replies from Slack, the client writes in XTablo, and the history stays in the project.
