What is the XTablo MCP server?
The XTablo MCP server lets an AI assistant such as Claude Code or Cursor read and update your XTablo projects: milestones, tasks, content calendar, reporting and the client chat.
It speaks the Model Context Protocol, the open standard Anthropic released in November 2024 to plug AI assistants into outside data. Every tool makes one XTablo API call as the key’s owner: the assistant can do exactly what you can do in the app, no more, no less.

What you can ask, in plain English
| You ask | What happens |
|---|---|
| “Which tasks are overdue across all my projects?” | It goes through your projects and lists tasks past their due date, by project and by person. |
| “Create the Website redesign project for Atelier Kō with 4 milestones: brief, mockups, build, launch.” | It creates the project, then the 4 milestones, in order. |
| “Schedule 8 LinkedIn posts in November in Lumen’s content calendar.” | It creates the 8 posts on the chosen dates, with the “idea” status, in the project’s content calendar. Your client sees them too. |
| “Add October’s numbers to the reporting.” | It sends the values to the project reporting, which your client sees in their portal if you made it visible. |
| “Tell the client the mockups are ready.” | It posts the message in the project chat, as you. Read it first: your client gets it. |
The 24 tools
The assistant picks the right tool on its own, based on your question. Read tools change nothing. The others act with your permissions: the server tells the assistant to ask you before any deletion, which is permanent.

Set up in 2 minutes
- 1In XTablo, open Settings, then API keys, and create a key (for example “Claude”). Copy it right away: it is only shown once.
- 2Paste the command in your terminal, replacing YOUR_KEY with your key.
- 3Ask Claude: “list my XTablo projects”.
claude mcp add --transport http xtablo https://v2.xtablo.com/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_KEY"{
"mcpServers": {
"xtablo": {
"url": "https://v2.xtablo.com/mcp",
"headers": {
"Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_KEY"
}
}
}
}Any other MCP client: HTTP address (Streamable HTTP) and the key in the Authorization header. https://v2.xtablo.com/mcp
Security and limits
- One key per tool, revocable at any time in Settings, with the date it was last used.
- The key acts with your exact permissions: it only sees the projects you can access.
- Deletions are permanent: the assistant has to ask you first.
- The Claude.ai and ChatGPT web connectors, which require an OAuth sign-in, are not supported yet. Claude Code, Cursor and MCP clients that accept an Authorization header work.
FAQ
Does the MCP server cost extra?
No, it is included in every XTablo plan, 7-day trial included.
Which assistants does it work with?
Claude Code, Cursor and any MCP client that accepts an HTTP address with a key in the Authorization header. The Claude.ai and ChatGPT web connectors are not supported yet.
Can the assistant delete my data?
It can do what you can do, deletions included. The server tells it to ask you before every deletion, and you can revoke the key at any time.
Does my client see what the assistant does?
They see the result in their portal, as if you had done it yourself: a milestone checked off, a post scheduled, a message in the chat.
